FAQs
What is Type 2 diabetes?
Your pancreas, an organ positioned between your stomach and backbone that aids digestion releases insulin into your blood. Insulin assists your blood in transporting glucose to all of your body's cells. Sometimes your body does not produce enough insulin, or the insulin does not function properly. Glucose remains in your blood and does not reach your cells as a result. When your blood glucose levels become too high, it might lead to diabetes or prediabetes. Having too much glucose in your blood might lead to health concerns over time.
Can diabetes be cured?
Diabetes is a lifestyle disorder. Type 2 diabetes can be “reversed” but not “cured” because the disease will come back if long-term healthy lifestyle is not successfully maintained.
How is diabetes diagnosed?
Diabetes is frequently diagnosed clinically as a result of symptoms such as increased thirst and urination, as well as recurring infections. Diabetes can be diagnosed by blood glucose (FBBS which is a fasting blood sugar test and PPBS which is a post meal sugar test) and HBA1c levels
What are the complications of type 2 diabetes?
Type 2 diabetes increases the risk of developing several medical complications. These can include:
-
Heart and blood vessel problems
-
Kidney damage (nephropathy)
-
Eye damage (retinopathy)
-
Foot damage and amputation
-
Depression or diabetes distress
